Rome is a two-headed monster!
We began the day in Saint Peter’s Basilica to have our Audience with Pope Francis. The excitement of the crowd was incredible! It was a massive throng of people to get in and we fought and elbowed our way through.
Our group was able to secure fantastic seats and we were in the perfect spot when the Pope rode by!
We were given the afternoon free and decided to go back to the hotel to get changed and venture over to the Spanish Steps. We tried to find an available taxi, but we were not having any luck. So we started walking towards the hotel. “It’s just over 2 miles… We’ve walked so much more this trip… No big deal.”
It was all uphill! And we were playing Frogger again. And Rome is a very dirty city! We never made it to the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain or anywhere else for that matter. We were too tired. And cranky.
After a nice little pisolino (catnap), we got ready for our evening. My dad had pre-booked a Segway tour for our family to see the sites of Rome lit up at night. It was AWESOME!
I have to admit that I was nervous at first. Romans drive like crazy people! And being in the streets with traffic on a Segway that I had never been on before made me very nervous! But we all survived and had an awesome time!
We stopped at so many incredible sites!!! I highly recommend Italy Segway Tours!
